I was working at a radio station on Melrose and was leaving work one day. Next to our broadcast studios was a recording studio. If you worked at either place you had to park across the street.
I was waiting at the signal to cross and so was this guy. We struck up a conversation. He said he was working on his music at the studio. I asked him who he was so I could buy his album when it came out.
It was Gordon Lightfoot. Duh.
I ran into him again about 15 years later. He was a guest on my morning show at another radio station. And he shared with me the secret to getting a great sound from an acoustic guitar. Boil the strings before you put them on your guitar. Gee, I hope he doesn’t mind me passing that along.
